We're just launching in San Diego and don't have live listings yet. We'd rather show you nothing than make something up.
We'll email you when long-term rentals that welcome pets go live in San Diego. No listings are invented, so emails only go out when there's something real.
Landlords and property managers in San Diego: be the first to list. It's free: paste your existing listing link and we'll build it for you.
Be the first landlord in San DiegoSan Diego's mild weather makes it easy to be outside with a pet most of the year. The city has popular dog beaches, including Ocean Beach Dog Beach, and designated off-leash areas in parks. Rules and hours change, so check the City of San Diego's website for current dog-beach and leash rules.
In drier months, watch for foxtails, the barbed grass seeds that can work into a dog's paws, ears and nose. Coyotes are also common near canyons and open space, so supervise small pets outdoors and keep them in at night. When you tour a rental, look at the yard's landscaping and fencing, and check gates and gaps under fences.
Much of San Diego's rental housing is apartments and condos, often with association or building rules about pets. Ask about breed, weight and number-of-pets limits, and whether there's a relief area or dog run on site. California has its own rules on security deposits that can affect pet deposits, so ask the landlord to put every pet charge in writing, including the deposit, any fee and monthly pet rent, before you sign.
If you're moving to San Diego, find a local vet soon after you arrive and keep your pet's vaccination and license records handy. A pet résumé with spay/neuter status, training notes and a past landlord reference can help your application stand out for apartments and condos that receive many applicants. Make a free pet résumé.
Low or no pet fees means monthly pet rent of $25 or less per pet and a one-time non-refundable pet fee of $300 or less. Fee-Friendly Landlords appear first.
No live listings here yet. We're onboarding our first landlords and won't show made-up listings.
Scores appear once a landlord lists and we've checked every score input.
Fair housing note: Under the federal Fair Housing Act, service animals and assistance animals (including emotional support animals) are not pets. Pet rent, pet deposits, pet fees, breed limits and weight limits generally cannot be applied to them. Pet policies on this site apply to pets only. See our assistance animals guide.
